There are always many things to be proud of at Kenton Elementary School and this year is no exception! Based on our 2022-2023 TN Ready achievement data, our school scored a level 3, with lots of growth to celebrate in grades 3 and 4 ELA/Math. In one school year, we grew from 28.13% proficiency to 44% proficiency in those areas! We know that a firm foundation in the early grades is extremely important for our students to be able to make these gains, so our entire Kenton School village is working hard to ensure that our students are growing and preparing to be lifelong learners. This year has gotten off to a fantastic start and our recent Aimsweb data is very exciting. Thank you, families, for entrusting us with your children and for investing in their futures by working with them at home.

Dear Families,
On May 3, 2023, many school districts in TN have been affected by false reports of an active shooter on their campuses. From what we understand, schools have received internet-based phone calls with these threats, which turn out to be unsubstantiated. It appears to be part of a hoax known as “swatting.”
We know that many of our families may be understandably concerned about school safety. Please know that our top priority is the safety and well-being of our students and staff. We take any and all reports of potential threats seriously, and we are making every effort to maintain an environment where students and staff feel safe.
We would like to continue to encourage our students and school community to report anything that could constitute a threat to school safety. As always, we work closely with local law enforcement to assist in these situations.
The Gibson County Sheriff’s Department and GCSSD SROs are aware of the situation and are focused on keeping our buildings secure.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you for your attention to this important update.
